Special Services - Baptism, Confirmation, Weddings, Funerals
Baptism
Baptism is offered to anyone who seeks the power to live like Jesus, by becoming a part of His followers in the word. All who desire the assurance of God's love, His acceptance and forgiveness, and a share in Jesus' mission of hope to the world are urged to come to baptism. The Anglican practice of baptizing the infants of believing parents is a daring extension of God's invitation to faith in Christ, and an expression of our conviction that grace always precedes conscious faith. Children are invited to share in the blessings of the new covenant relationship with God through Christ along with their parents. Those parents who regularly attend our Church are urged to bring their children to public baptism, which usually takes place at our main morning service. Adults who have never been baptized are also welcomed into the Church universal by baptism as well. For many this step of obedience is a crucial turning point in their spiritual lives.
As to method of baptism, our font in the church from which we sprinkle the candidate was a gift to the church by the students of our first Rector, Dr. Ripley who died fighting cholera in the district. However, we also have standing arrangements to baptize by immersion in another church if that is desired. Requests for baptism of adults or children should be directed to the clergy.
Confirmation
In confirmation the believer is invited to make a public profession of commitment to the faith of baptism. Separate series of classes are scheduled for youth and adults. Each aims to cover the basics of the Christian faith as observed in the Anglican Communion. During the confirmation service, a bishop "confirms" that the believer has accepted the faith of the Church. The laying on of hands confirms the believer's reception of the Holy Spirit. Requests for confirmation should be directed to the clergy.
Weddings
Little Trinity has a long history of helping couples build strong, successful marriages. We believe that the foundation for strong marriage is laid as each partner continues to grow in his/her personal relationship with Jesus Christ in the fellowship of the church. Funerals
The clergy are honoured to be available to help those coping with the loss of loved ones. They are happy to consult with the bereaved about making whatever arrangements are appropriate to celebrate the life of their loved one. Services may be held in the Church or elsewhere, as arranged with the clergy. You can also make pre-arrangements with the clergy and these instructions will be kept on file. Requests for funeral arrangements should be directed to the clergy.
