A Call to Renewal: Ministry, Mission, Community
While the city around Little Trinity experiences revitalization and prepares for an influx of thousands of new families, our church is preparing to embark on its own renewal.
This is renewal of our buildings, especially the large vacant townhouses on the west side of our campus. In addition, our church building, built in the 1800’s, needs improvements to meet the needs of a 21st century church.
But renovation of our buildings is really to enable renewal of Little Trinity’s ministry, mission and community. It is an investment in continuing the legacy of worship, teaching and proclaiming the gospel at the corner of King and Parliament – today and for generations to come.
To support this renewal, members, friends and supporters of Little Trinity will be asked to make a meaningful and proportionate gift over a 5-year pledge period to help us reach our fundraising goal of $3,475,000. We ask that you prayerfully embrace this Call to Renewal, both in your gifts and use of the new spaces, so that together we can build the future that God desires for us.
The Shape of Renewal
The building at 399 King Street east is the central focus of our redevelopment plans. Idle for many years, the building has the potential to provide us with the additional space we need to serve the current congregation and its ministries as well as make room for future growth. Our plans call for a redeveloped and enlarged two-story building which will maintain the historic King Street façade. Located on the ground floor will be a meeting room, a reception area and administrative offices, and a small kitchen. The second floor will provide us with a large multi-functional conference room, a kitchen and a reception space that overlooks the adjacent park. Finally, the basement will feature a dedicated gathering space for youth, lockers and showers for guests and needy visitors, along with some storage space.
The church building, our spiritual home, will receive some important renovations and updates. The toddler and nursery spaces will receive significant upgrades in order to better meet the needs of our youngest members. At the same time the church basement, which is our primary social space, will be refurbished with new finishes, lighting, ventilation and storage in order to provide a modern, inviting community hall.
The outdoor space behind 399 King Street will also be renewed, resulting in a more accessible and friendly site that includes an enclosed lawn and hard surfaced courtyard.
The third building on the property, Little Trinity House, will receive minor renovations as offices are moved into the new building at 399 King Street, making room for more Sunday school rooms and small group meeting spaces.
Wonderful News from the Diocese of Toronto!
At the October 2009 meeting, The Diocesan Council of the Diocese of Toronto has approved the implementation of the 'Property Renewal Program' renovation project and have given us a Ministry Allocation Fund grant in the amount of $1.0 million dollars to assist us with the project!
Making a Pledge
According to the campaign’s Financial Policies (see download at top right), all pledges will be handled in the strictest of confidence. Other members of the campaign team and staff will only know whether you have formally submitted a response (which could be a pledge or an indication of a decision to not make a pledge), not whether or not you chose to give or how much.
The pledge form does ask you to indicate whether you are prepared to have your name published. This would only be at the end of the campaign, would not include an indication of the amount of the gift, and will be in a form that is yet to be determined.
To make your pledge, you can do one of three things:
1) Complete the pledge card in your visitation kit (or download from top right). Put the card in an envelope clearly marked “CONFIDENTIAL” and “A Call to Renewal” Put the envelope in the collection plate, drop it off at the church office or mail it to:

2) Email the information indicated on the pledge card in confidence to: jnicholson@littletrinity.on.ca
3) Use CanadaHelps.org to make a secure online donation. PLEASE NOTE, this is not Little Trinity’s preferred method of receiving gifts, as 3% of your total donation goes to the donation agency, rather than Little Trinity and the capital campaign.
